Fostering an institutional culture of academic integrity: Shifting policies, support and practices
In July 2019, Edith Cowan University (ECU) implemented a suite of new academic integrity policies to address current challenges within the sector (such as the prevalence of contract cheating services) and to provide a centrally supported approach to managing academic misconduct. These policies required a comprehensive range of education, training and awareness programs included in the implementation plan in order to support the transition into new practices. This presentation discusses how these policies were implemented at ECU, the support offered to staff and students, and how current practices foster a stronger institutional culture of academic integrity. It explores mutual sector challenges and offers practical strategies for other institutions in supporting academic integrity at an institutional level.
